Chumba Casino explained: who runs it, the two coins and the rules behind them
Chumba Casino is a sweepstakes-model social casino owned and operated by VGW Malta Limited, with its sweepstakes and prizes run by VGW Games Limited, both registered in Malta. You play with Gold Coins, which you can buy but never cash out, and Sweeps Coins, which you cannot buy and can redeem at US$1 each under Sweeps Rules 26.0 of 13 July 2026.
What is Chumba Casino?
Chumba Casino is an online social casino built on a sweepstakes model. Its about-us page (archived copy of 7 February 2026) describes hundreds of casino-style games, including slots, blackjack and video poker, played in a web browser with no download. You play those games with two virtual coins. Gold Coins are for entertainment and can be bought. Sweeps Coins are sweepstakes entries: they arrive free, and the ones you win through play can be redeemed for prizes at US$1 each.
That is the short answer to what is Chumba Casino. The long answer lives in two documents: the Terms and Conditions, version 27.0, and the Sweeps Rules, version 26.0, both dated 13 July 2026 and read on 11 September 2026. Clause numbers on this page come from those two files unless another source is named.
Put the model in one line and it looks like this: one coin you can buy and never cash out, one coin you cannot buy and can redeem. The lobby, the apps and the daily bonus all sit on top of that split.
Who owns and runs Chumba Casino
Clause 2.1 of the Terms and Conditions assigns three jobs, and two companies share them.

Both companies give the same registered address: Trident Park, Notabile Gardens No6, Level 3, Mdina Road, Birkirkara CBD2010, Malta. The definitions then group them. VGW Group means VGW Canada, VGW Games, VGW Malta, VGW GP and their affiliates. VGW GP Limited is the company behind Global Poker, and vgw.co lists five brands in all: Monopoly Match, Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, Global Poker and LuckyLand Casino. Two more names appear outside the rulebooks. The site footer (published 10 September 2026, read 11 September 2026) lists four payment agents: VGW Holdings Pty Ltd, VGW Malta Holding Limited, VGW Luckyland Inc and VGW Financial Services USA Inc. The Chumba Lite and Chumba Casino Mini store listings name VGW Holdings Pty Ltd as the seller.
Money owed to players has its own clause. Clause 2.2 says funds matching unredeemed prizes are held in accounts separate from the business account, then adds that in the event of insolvency there is “no absolute guarantee” they will be paid. Both halves are the operator's wording.

The definitions section gives each coin one job.

A Gold Coin buys time on the reels. A Sweeps Coin is the entry that can turn into a prize, and the operator keeps it off the shop shelf by design: every route to one is either free or a bonus attached to a Gold Coin purchase. How play works on Chumba
The rules, the help pages and the store listings give this sequence.
- Open an account. You must be 21, or the local age of majority if that is later (T&C 27.0, 3.1(a)). The name you register must match your government ID (clause 5.3).
- Collect the welcome coins. The purchase page (archived 28 January 2026) offered new players 2,000,000 Gold Coins plus 2 free Sweeps Coins, alongside a daily login bonus.
- Pick a game and a coin. Choose Standard Play with Gold Coins or Promotional Play with Sweeps Coins. Chumba names in-house titles such as Stampede Fury and The Last Empress and prints no game count anywhere; the catalog is described on the Chumba slots page.
- Top up Gold Coins if you want. The help page lists Mastercard, Visa, American Express, online banking, Paysafecard and Skrill (archived 28 January 2026). Specifically marked packs add Sweeps Coins as a bonus (SR 26.0, 3.2(a)).
- Collect free Sweeps Coins. The Daily Bonus, Facebook giveaways and the online entry request, which pays 5 SC (SR 26.0, 3.2(b) to (d)).
- Play Sweeps Coins through once. Coins must be played one time before they count toward a redemption; the operator may ask for more, up to 20 times (SR 26.0, 4.6).
- Verify, then redeem. Verification comes before any redemption. From 100 eligible SC you can redeem to a bank account, to Skrill or as a Prizeout gift card, and the bank leg takes up to 10 business days (T&C 27.0, 8.16). The full money path is on does Chumba Casino pay real money.
You can play in a browser, or on Chumba Lite and Chumba Casino Mini, the two VGW apps listed on the App Store and Google Play. A full Chumba Casino app was absent from both stores on 11 September 2026; the two smaller builds are compared on the Chumba casino app page.
The licence Chumba prints
Clause 2.1 and the site footer print one licence: MGA/B2C/188/2010, dated 1 August 2018, held by VGW Games Limited from the Malta Gaming Authority to operate the Promotional Play games. Read that wording closely. The licence sits in the sweepstakes company's name, and it covers the Sweeps Coin side of the business.
The number is the one the operator prints. We tried to look it up in the MGA's public register on 8 September 2026 and the register page did not render, so this site lists it as printed and unconfirmed: neither established nor refuted. The Terms and the Sweeps Rules name this one licence and one regulator. What the licence and the rest of the paperwork add up to is weighed in our Chumba casino review.
Ontario law in the Sweeps Rules
Clause 12.2 of the Sweeps Rules picks the law that interprets them: the law of the Province of Ontario and the Canadian law that applies there. So a player in the United States uses a platform run by a Maltese company, enters sweepstakes sponsored by a second Maltese company under a Maltese licence, and those sweepstakes rules are read under Ontario law.
The Terms and Conditions carry their own dispute path. Clause 20.4 gives player support 10 calendar days to respond to a complaint, and 20.5 allows up to 20 in some circumstances. Clause 20.6 offers a voluntary outside review by eCOGRA in Malta. Clause 24 is an agreement to arbitrate individually, with a written notice and a 60-day informal period first (24.1), and clause 24.3 lets a player opt out of arbitration in writing within 30 days of first accepting the terms.
What changed in 2025–26
Most changes that matter to a player arrived as quiet edits to the rulebooks rather than as announcements.
The mail-in route closed in 2026. Sweeps Rules 21.0, dated 30 December 2025, still carried a postal free entry: a handwritten request with a Postal Request Code (clause 3.4), sent to a PO box of the Chumba Casino Sweepstakes Department and worth 5 SC. Version 26.0, dated 13 July 2026, has no envelope, no postal address and no code. Free entry is now an online request made inside the account, still worth 5 SC. The version in between, where the postal route first dropped out, was not read. Old and new routes are compared on the mail-in route post.
A new payment agent. The footer published 10 September 2026 adds VGW Financial Services USA Inc to the list of payment agents; the February 2026 footer carried three names.
The apps went quiet. Chumba Lite's latest store build is version 1.25.0, dated 18 December 2025 on the App Store and 17 December 2025 on Google Play. Chumba Casino Mini's is version 1.16.0 of 18 December 2025.
Sister brands moved. VGW's news index dates a LuckyLand Casino launch post to 12 December 2025. CasinoBeats reported on 28 July 2026, quoting VGW, that LuckyLand Slots would close: purchases ended 3 August, play ended 24 August, and access and redemptions end 14 September 2026. When read on 11 September 2026, luckylandslots.com redirected to a not-available page. The same report said Chumba, Global Poker and LuckyLand Casino continue.
Corporate news. Post titles on vgw.co record a scheme deed with Lance East Office (2 June 2025), shareholder approval of an acquisition (1 August 2025) and leadership updates in February, July and August 2026. Only the titles and dates opened for us.

Gold Coins (GC). The virtual token for Standard Play. Bought in US dollars, with no monetary value, and never redeemable for prizes.
Sweeps Coins (SC). Sweepstakes entries. Free on sign-up, as a bonus on marked Gold Coin packs, or through free entry. Each one won through play redeems at US$1 (SR 26.0, 4.4).
Standard Play. Play with Gold Coins, for entertainment only.
Promotional Play. Play with Sweeps Coins. This is the sweepstakes side, and the side the printed MGA licence names.
Entry request. The free route in SR 26.0, 3.2(d). You reveal a template in the account, handwrite it on a 4”×6” card or white paper, photograph it in the app, and pass a human check and, if prompted, a selfie check. Each valid request pays 5 SC.
Playthrough. How many times a Sweeps Coin must be played before it can be redeemed: once at Chumba, with a ceiling of 20 the operator may apply (SR 26.0, 4.6).
Redemption. Exchanging eligible Sweeps Coins for a prize: cash to a bank account, to Skrill, or a Prizeout gift card. The floor is 100 SC, with one request per account every 24 hours (T&C 27.0, 8.15).
Daily Bonus. Free Sweeps Coins claimable once a day through GET COINS (SR 26.0, 3.2(c)). The rules print no amount.
Where Chumba casino alternatives fit
Chumba is one operator with one set of numbers: a 100 SC floor, a 1× playthrough, 5 SC per entry request and up to 10 business days on the bank leg. Other sweepstakes casinos run the same two-coin model under their own names and their own numbers. Stake.us calls its prize coin Stake Cash and asks for a 3× playthrough (T&C 18.0, 10 July 2026).
